Members of Winnipeg’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community will soon have a new space to gather. Matter Manitoba will open on Graham Avenue in a few weeks. The space will feature a gallery, library, and special programming. On December 7th, Matter Manitoba will hold an open house and a queer mini market. CBC’s Marcy Markusa spoke with Matter co-founder Carla Taylor.

In Winnipeg’s downtown area, a group of volunteers came together to create a space uniquely their own. Carla Taylor, Nix Cristobal Calma, and Bre Cristobal Calma co-founded Matter Manitoba. The volunteer-run organization has the mandate to promote and celebrate Two-Spirit, Queer, and Trans Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (2SQTBIPOC) art and community.
